About Tulsi
Tulsi was founded by Lisa McConkey
after she struggled to find a pilates class that suited her needs.
So she decided to create her own.
As everbody’s expectations and goals are different, Tulsi Pilates focuses on the needs of the individual.

At Tulsi, Lisa takes the time to find out your specific physical needs and to devise a personalised program of exercises to help you best achieve your goals and overcome any challenges. In order to achieve this, classes are kept small and personal which also enables classes to be taken at a time and location that suits you.
Tulsi Pilates isn't confined to a studio.
We often take it outside, in your garden, in the park, either standing or on the mat.
We can even do pilates whilst walking with poles which encourages good posture.
About Lisa
I have a holistic approach to help my clients build more self awareness and confidence in how their bodies can move more easily.

I believe that pilates is a lifestyle and am therefore interested in encouraging my clients to apply the pilates principles into their daily activities at home, work or leisure.

I chose to qualify with APPI (Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute) due to its physiotherapy background as I think it is very important for a pilates teacher to understand in detail how the body functions and how best to overcome difficulties.
I have also undertaken the following training courses:
-
shoulder rehab
-
standing pilates; cycling; running
-
Osteoporosis
-
Neurological conditions: MS; Stroke; Parkinson's
Wellness For Life.
What is Pilates?
Pilates aims to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular
emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing.
It can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as
relieve stress and tension. Pilates can complement training by developing
whole-body strength and flexibility, and help reduce the risk of injury.
Pilates and the APPI Method
Pilates was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates,
who believed mental and physical health were closely connected.

The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) has created the only pilates programme in the world that is fully designed and developed by physiotherapists.
They reviewed all the evidence around low back pain, chronic injuries, muscle imbalance, movement adaptation and impairments, exercise physiology and much more to develop a Pilates program that was safe and effective for everyone.

APPI is recognised as an efficient and effective method of exercise rehabilitation.
